JPS where responsible for the installation of several packages on a student accommodation, 15 individual blocks comprising 638 bedrooms in the centre of York, the packages consisted of load bearing steel frame system, cementitious boarding and celotex to the external face of the SFS, metal decking, reinforcement and concrete with reinforced fibres to create floor slabs, partitioning, ceilings and plastering works to complete the internal works.
As stated above JPS completed the works to project Vita, student accommodation in the centre York, the main contractor was Wates construction, JPS were involved from the design stage of the project through to the completion stages, many JPS management and operatives where on the project from the start of the project until handover day, site constraints such as archology findings within the ground, adverse weather conditions and working around with and around other trades made it more difficult, due to these issues works where delayed and programme durations reduced, JPS onsite team had to revert to additional labour and working longer hours to recover time lost.
The early stages of the project commenced with 2 buildings while ground floor slabs where being cast by others, this allowed us to establish ourselves onsite and set a benchmark for the project, due to the programme requirements onsite JPS where doing various works across 12 different buildings at one time during the project.
The project was completed in September as per the construction programme and JPS received praise for their works throughout the project from the main contractor's regional construction director.
