Project Overview
Bristol Road Student Accommodation in Selley Oak is a 66 bed 5 storey development built on the site of a former used car sales lot in the tightest of inner city locations. Needing to be built over existing civic amenities and public seating areas the challenge was to deliver the building on time, in line with costs, and to the highest performing thermal and acoustic specifications – at the same time being sympathetic to the surrounding buildings and existing environment in terms of design and appearance, and had to be ready in time to accept the new student year population.
The key to the success of the site was the collaborative working approach between members of the supply chain and an understanding from all parties that innovative thinking was required to enable the use of products which hitherto had not been considered in the specification or indeed previously used together. It was this 'open to suggestions' approach which ultimately lead to the delivery of an outstanding student accommodation development in an inner city location, one which has become one of the most desirable student accommodation locations in the city.
