A procurement group representing over 40 housing associations and ALMOs has started the hunt for an offsite modular housing specialist to replace failed Hull firm, Modular Space.
Modular Space collapsed into administration early last year leaving a hole in the suite of housing frameworks set up by the Central Housing Investment Consortium.
CHIC will now start the search for its replacement to supply fully-fitted modules on the framework issuing a prequalification notice at the end of this month.
The offsite modular framework will be split into two regional lots, one covering Wales and the other the Midlands and South.
With the Government now favouring offsite construction solutions for housing, CHIC estimates that the maximum work on the framework over five year periods up to 15 years could run to £1.4bn.
A winning firm will be revealed in early June. For further information email the Ark Consultancy.
