Offsite Solutions has been awarded a £3 million contract to manufacture 588 bathroom pods for its third major build-to-rent neighbourhood for Moda Living.
The development is currently under construction by Robertson Group.
Holland Park in Glasgow is on the site of the former Strathclyde Police HQ and will provide 433 studios and one, two and three-bedroom apartments in four blocks up to 19 storeys, arranged around a landscaped courtyard. This will create a vibrant new neighbourhood and will help to address the under-supply of high-quality homes for rent in the city. The scheme is designed by Haus Collective and Ryder Architecture.
Mark Howe, project director at Moda Living, said: "We are looking forward to bringing our best-in-class, professionally-managed homes for rent and the Moda brand to the people of Glasgow. Our experience of working with Offsite Solutions on other schemes has been very positive, with consistently-high quality standards, the efficiency of offsite manufacture, and exceptional programme management."
James Stephens, managing director of Offsite Solutions, added: "We were engaged by Robertson and Moda at the early design stages of this project to develop the use of offsite construction for the shower rooms, ensuites and bathrooms. This collaboration has really optimised the benefits of offsite manufacturing and gives the client and main contractor greater certainty of cost and programme, as well as simplified procurement and improved quality."
"We have manufactured around 1,200 bathroom pods for Moda to date – Holland Park follows our successful delivery of pods for the award-winning Moda, Angel Gardens in Manchester and Moda, The Lexington in Liverpool."
Matt Haggerty, architectural director at Ryder Architecture, commented: "This new neighbourhood will play a significant role in revitalising Glasgow's city centre, with its focus on delivering the luxurious internal and external living environments synonymous with the Moda Living brand. The use of bathroom pods will bring the process-driven efficiencies of offsite manufacturing and enhanced quality but with no compromise on design."
Offsite Solutions has developed the steel-framed bathroom, shower and ensuite pods to Moda's high specification, which includes contemporary light grey porcelain tiling throughout, square wall-mounted wash hand basin, wall-hung toilet, brushed steel accessories, heated towel rail, and recessed, colour-matched cabinetry for a sleek and stylish finish.
The shower rooms have deluxe-sized rainfall showers, and the bathrooms are pre-fitted with both overhead and hand-held showers, and a pivot shower screen.
The pods are all supplied floorless – a unique pod solution engineered by Offsite Solutions. This advancement in pod technology avoids the need for a recess in the floor slab to minimise floor build-up for each storey whilst achieving continuous level floors.
Offsite Solutions has also developed steel-framed utility pods for apartments and studios for build-to-rent or build-to-sell developments.
