Buildoffsite Water Hub has been set up to provide a focal point to promote the increased use of offsite construction solutions by water infrastructure companies. A number of water businesses are already making considerable use of offsite construction methods to deliver savings in capital and operating costs. The challenge for the Water Hub is to encourage the use of offsite methods more widely within the water industry.
The day was split between Nomenca’s offices in Warrington. Delegates were invited to the Millennium Business Park office first, where representatives from Nomenca explained how they design and manufacture products offsite for the water sector and demonstrated how they integrate 3D models into the manufacturing process along with the use of virtual reality modelling. BIM not only reduces the time it takes to complete the project but also greatly reduces the risk of accidents.
Delegates were given an update on Water Hub activities and developments, and a number of water and non-water themed presentations. Discussions took place focussing on digital engineering and DfMA, standard products, BIM, and the AMP7 environment.
The second part of the day involved delegates visiting Terence House, for a tour of Nomenca’s outstanding offsite build facilities.
Mark Hanrahan, Business Development Director for NM Group, presented on the day and commented, “This event was a fantastic opportunity for Nomenca to showcase their capabilities and for all involved to gain a greater understanding of the benefits build offsite can bring to a business.”
