Matthew Clay, Forterra’s managing director of bespoke products, has been named as the new President of British Precast – the voice of precast concrete manufacturers and suppliers to the industry.
Mr Clay will lead the trade association – which includes precast flooring, architectural precast, aggregate blocks, box culverts, concrete pipeline systems, block paving and aircrete blocks – to promote its benefits to the construction market.
Bringing his considerable experience in the construction industry to the role, he will also seek to promote safety throughout the sector using the ‘Safer by Competence’ operator training initiative, and promote British Precast as a standard for precast operations in the UK.
‘I hope to use my passion and drive to attract as broad a membership into the association as possible, and to be a President who supports the safety of our members, the benefits of British Precast, our initiatives and associated developments,’ he said.
Mr Clay has worked for Forterra for more than a decade and also has experience in the support services, transport and utility industries. He has led significant business and IT change-management projects, transforming business lines into more effective, efficient operations.
He succeeds outgoing British Precast President Andy Dix, who served in the role for four years.
