Extraspace Solutions rebrands to ESS Modular, cementing its position as a leading modular construction provider. The rebrand comes after significant growth with the company doubling in size with sites in London, Manchester, Belfast, Dublin & Cork.

Extraspace Solutions, a leading modular construction company in the UK has today announced a rebrand to ESS Modular.

The rebrand comes after a period of significant growth following a management buy out in 2016. Since then, ESS Modular has more than doubled in size now employing over 170 people across five sites and two manufacturing facilities in London, Manchester, Belfast, Dublin, and Cork.

Modular construction involves a precision manufacturing process where up to 85% of a building is manufactured and fitted out offsite.

This allows for significant time savings on site, enhanced quality control and minimal disruption to local residents during onsite construction.

Paul Tierney, managing director of ESS Modular said:

"Our ambition is to continue to champion the modular building revolution which is currently transforming the construction industry. We are making a difference in meeting public sector demands for social and affordable housing; additional school spaces for our children and new hospital accommodation to support the healthcare system.

"We are excellently placed to continue to evolve and grow our modular business. We have developed our new brand to cement our position as a leading modular construction provider in both the UK and Ireland."

ESS Modular has recently secured a number of high-profile residential projects catering for both the private, social and affordable markets.

One of these schemes is a private development consisting of 43 apartments in Barnet., London. The four-storey apartment block of one, two and three bedroom units is currently being manufactured using ESS Modular's precision manufacturing process. This modern method of construction will reduce the build programme by six months.

In addition, ESS Modular was recently appointed as the sole provider by the Pan- London Accommodation Collaborative Enterprise (PLACE) to manufacture modular housing units for homeless families in London. The contract will see ESS Modular deliver over 200 new family homes by 2021. Developed by the London Housing Directors' Group and supported by the umbrella body London Councils, PLACE is managing the delivery of these family homes on behalf of a number of councils throughout London.

Paul Tierney, managing director of ESS Modular added: "We are delighted to be supporting PLACE's mission to provide high-quality, local accommodation for people needing a home. We are thrilled to be helping deliver this exciting initiative, showcasing modern methods of construction in the residential market. This scheme will combine our innovative design with a community feel. Our precision manufactured modular units will assist in combating the homeless challenge and provide comfortable family homes, meeting all of the latest GLA space standards."
