Ilke Homes Secures Partnerships to Deliver Additional Modular Homes

4th July, 2018

ilke Homes, a British modular homes business, has announced partnerships to deliver an additional 56 new modular properties across the UK

The projects mark a significant step in the business’ plans to deliver up to 2,000 modular homes a year, in an effort to help solve the UK’s housing shortage.

Highlighting the growing interest in modern methods of construction such as offsite, ilke Homes will be delivering high-quality, desirable modular properties this summer for partners including Engie, Keepmoat Homes, Homes England, Home Group, Newcastle City Council and Places for People in communities in the Midlands, the North East, the South West, Yorkshire and Humber.

By using precision engineering techniques, ilke Homes will support its partners by providing additional capacity to the traditional construction methods. Additionally, employment opportunities will be created through the schemes, as the construction of offsite homes and delivery on-site offers the chance for a variety of new roles within the construction sector.

Björn Conway, CEO of ilke Homes said: “It’s refreshing to see the housing industry recognising the potential offsite manufacturing holds for the UK’s housing market. We’re looking forward to working closely with our like-minded partners to deliver inspiring, energy-efficient homes for real families across the UK. Our mission as a business is to build better homes and build them in a better way and these partnerships are the first step in us making a real difference to the industry.”

To showcase examples of the homes the business has constructed two modular properties at CIH’s Housing 2018, as part of the off-site village. Guests can view an example of a home for the affordable market and for private sale from 26-28 June.

The two properties were constructed in less than 48 hours, highlighting how fast build programmes for modular homes can be. Onsite preparation works and build manufacturing are undertaken simultaneously for modular properties, so build programmes for ilke Homes can be completed in half the time of a traditional build. The business is able to scale up to produce six homes on site a day.

The properties have flexible layouts with hundreds of possible variations, from two-storey terraced houses to three-storey semi-detached properties, and blocks of flats of up to four storeys, in addition to millions of internal and external finishing combinations to choose from. The homes are mortgageable and tenure blind, being fully adaptable to both private market and housing association requirements for all forms of sale and rent. Homes are fully-approved by the National House Building Council (NHBC) and BuildOffsite Property Assurance Scheme (BOPAS), and standard mortgage-ability is achieved through 10-year structural warranties from NHBC Buildmark or Building Life Plans, accepted by all major lenders.
