Heathrow Delegation Visits Burton

12th March, 2018

A delegation from Heathrow Airport has visited Amalga's Palletforce Superhub in Burton, which is one of 65 sites in the running to become an offsite construction centre for the airport's expansion.

The Burton site is one of nine longlisted locations in the Midlands and the final four hubs selected will ensure that businesses across the UK will form part of the airport's supply chain.

Lord Deighton, chairman at Heathrow Airport, said:  "Heathrow expansion is a national infrastructure project that will benefit the whole country, including right across the Midlands, so it is hugely exciting to have a delegation from Heathrow at Amalga’s site as part of the latest stage of our nationwide tour of potential Logistics Hubs locations."

Prior to the Burton visit, the delegation also met with local business leaders in Nottingham.

Heathrow's expansion could create 21,800 jobs and lead to £23bn in wider economic benefits in the Midlands. The nationwide tour of the 65 longlisted sites comes ahead of a parliamentary vote on policy framework in the coming months.

Lord Deighton added: "Logistics Hubs are instrumental in our aim to ensure that expansion spreads the huge potential of its £187bn of economic benefits across the UK and will help to transform the construction industry and build a lasting skills legacy for future generations in various locations across the country and beyond London."
