Chris Holleron, Group Product Manager - Housing at Hadley Group gives an overview of what you can expect from the company at Futurebuild 2019.
The world of construction is undergoing something of a revolution. Modern methods of construction are quickly shaking their tag as mere technical innovations and instead becoming an integral aspect of commercial and residential projects. At Hadley Group, we're delighted to be at the forefront of this shift and believe our light gauge steel frame sections will be a central component in construction for years to come.
It's hard to pinpoint when this change occurred, but there's little doubt about what catalysed its momentum. The 'Farmer Review' of 2016 gave the industry a simple choice; modernise or die. The sector has seemingly chosen the former, with a number of leading housebuilders committing to offsite construction in the intervening period. For example, Balfour Beatty has committed to 25 per cent use of offsite construction methods by 2025. L&Q says that by 2025 all of its new homes will be built using modern methods of construction and Berkeley Homes has committed to building 1,000 homes per year at its new offsite factory.
This shift was a major factor in our decision to fully acquire Hadley Steel Framing last year. The company provides high quality, light gauge galvanised steel structural framing systems for use in a wide range of applications across the construction industry. Now that Hadley Steel Framing falls under the umbrella of Hadley Group it has access to our in-depth technical, structural and design skills, as well as our unique understanding of cold
The advantages of modern methods of construction are abundantly obvious, especially in the current political context where high-quality housing is needed urgently. Research by Heriot-Watt University found that England has a backlog of 3.91 million homes. This means the nation will need to build 340,000 new homes each year until 2031. This number exceeds the government's own target of an additional 300,000 homes per year, which critics already felt was too ambitious.
Adopting the principles of offsite construction helps to make this goal far more feasible. For one, building offsite reduces overall work required on a project. This is because pre-fabricated components, such as light gauge steel framing, offer a lighter, easier to erect
At Hadley Group, we supply structural external and internal wall panels constructed from lightweight cold rolled steel sections. These panels can be bolted together off-site then delivered to site, lifted and fixed in place. This solution offers a combination of 'best practice' structural engineering and the ability to meet challenging and innovative architecture requirements. As a result, the solutions have been used in many iconic buildings and developments across the world.
Visitors to Stand E40 at Futurebuild will be able to meet our team and be inspired as to how our expertise in light gauge steel framing sections can put us in a better position than ever before to accommodate your next project requirements. Aside from our offsite solutions, we will also be showcasing our broader range of products and solutions, which are regularly used in the agriculture, automotive, construction and industrial markets. Whether you're looking to shape your future in metal, invest into more modern methods of construction or understand what's possible with cold
