Glasgow-based construction firm CCG (Scotland) Ltd can report a very busy 2017 so far with a large number of live projects across the country and a £100 million project pipeline leading into 2018.
The Cambuslang-based business, who are pioneers in the use of ‘Off-Site’ methods of construction, has commenced 10 housing projects since January and is currently working on 14 projects across the country comprising almost 1,000 new, mixed tenure homes across Glasgow, Clydebank, Edinburgh, Perth, North and South Lanarkshire, and Ayrshire with four more projects set to get underway later in the summer.
While the company, which employs 650 staff and 62 trade apprentices, is working on an extensive range of housing projects up and down the country, it is also continuing to push the boundaries of innovation in the Scottish housing sector shown through a state-of-the-art residential housing development in Yoker, west Glasgow.
Ellerslie Road comprises 46 units for Sanctuary Scotland and once complete, the seven storey building, which is being constructed entirely with Cross Laminated Timber (CLT), will be the tallest timber structure in Scotland. CLT is manufactured in a factory environment offering increased strength and stiffness properties, is highly energy efficient, and enables a faster speed of construction. Working with specialist contractor, Eurban, CCG was able to install the building’s superstructure to be wind and water tight in a net period of just 16 weeks.
Commenting on the company’s performance over the past six months, Alastair Wylie, Chairman and Chief Executive of CCG (Scotland) Ltd said:
“It’s been an incredibly strong start to 2017 and CCG continues to go from strength to strength as we evolve our approach and enter new markets. We believe the future is bright for the construction industry and with considerable opportunity as we work with the Scottish Government and partners to help deliver on the commitment to build 50,000 affordable homes by 2021.
“We have always taken a pioneering approach to building, particularly in the applied use of off-site construction methods. This approach included our investment in a dedicate offsite manufacturing factory in Glasgow and we are continuing to invest in research and development to evolve our construction practices including the use of the CLT product at Yoker.”
CCG’s operational reach branches further than housing as the firm continues to operate across a wide range of markets, including education and healthcare. The company is currently building the brand new St Ninian’s Primary School in Gourock on behalf of Inverclyde Council and Hub West Scotland and is also live on a luxury care home in Milngavie for Morrison Community Care Group.
The company’s construction projects are complemented by a range of live contracts involving our building services divisions including building and fabric renewal, planned maintenance and M&E services.
Mr. Wylie continued:
“Our Group’s strategy has lead us to successfully enter new markets and new sectors including education, health and commercial. This is complemented by other divisions across the CCG Group including timber window and door manufacture, building renewal and planned maintenance, and M&E services who are doing an outstanding job and are all coming together to bring this company to new heights.
“We are continually looking to evolve our construction practices, never standing still and always trying to do more for clients, and look forward to what the next six months will bring.”
CCG was established in 1974 and has grown into one of Scotland’s largest privately-owned construction and manufacturing companies, with a turnover of £119 million in the last financial year.
