KEF Holdings, a Dubai-based company specialising in offsite construction technology, plans to boost operations in India with investments of $245m (AED900m) over the next five years.
The company said it can build schools, hospitals, commercial and residential buildings with design, engineering, manufacturing and assembly rolled into one service.
KEF Holdings said the new investments will be channeled through its two business verticals, KEF Infra and KEF Health, Arabian Gazette reports.
Two big projects have already been launched there.
The KEF Industrial Park at Krishnagiri, Tamil Nadu, which the company says is India’s only off-site manufacturing facility for construction, is due for completion by April 2015.
The second is a 500-bed hospital in Kerala designed to be built using precast and modular construction technology. It is scheduled for completion in the first quarter of 2016.
“In line with the Indian government’s ‘Make in India’ vision, KEF Holdings is committed to supporting change through its focus on infrastructure, education and healthcare,” said Faizal E. Kottikollon, company founder and chairman.
KEF Infra’s flagship project is the 42-acre KEF Industrial Park, which the company says will manufacture entire building components such as columns, beams, hollow core slabs, wall panels, staircases, windows, doors, bathroom units and facades.
The firm says the facility will help cut build times by as much as 50% and costs by as much as 30%.
The 500-bed tertiary care in Calicut, Kerala, is a pilot project for KEF Health. A joint venture with the PeeKay Group of Kerala and the cardiologist, Dr Ali Faizal, the hospital will specialise in cardiology, orthopaedics and neurosciences.
KEF said the modular construction model could be used by healthcare operators across India.
