The Offsite Construction Awards were declared a huge success by over 170 entrants, judges and guests in attendance. Held at the Inmarsat Conference Centre, London, on 01 December 2015, the Awards commended the best of the sector and recognised pioneering activity within the offsite arena.
The Awards celebrated the best in precision building design and delivery – rewarding outstanding examples of prefabrication and factory-based methods, products, systems and disciplines that have helped this sector to thrive during recent years by striving to develop a sustainable, streamlined and cost effective ways to create an enhanced built environment.
Awards host and head of the judging panel, Darren Richards of Cogent Consulting said of the night: “I am proud to have played a part in the inaugural Offsite Construction Awards. I have been blown away by the breadth and quality of entries received. It is truly inspiring to see so much activity in the sector and to witness so many boundaries being pushed. The depth of expertise across all categories was impressive and the exceptional number of entries (over 145) clearly demonstrates the upturn in the industry – placing the Offsite Construction Awards as a high point in the annual construction events calendar.”
Offsite manufacture removes much of the construction process from the site, leading to far-reaching and vital benefits. Across key sectors of UK construction, the Awards showcased innovation and celebrated best practice, while recognising overall expertise in offsite construction through landmark projects, influential people, materials and manufacturing excellence in this dynamic arena.
The prestigious ‘Winner of Winners’ Award, for the highest scoring entry across all categories was presented to the X-LAM Alliance, Engenuiti and Hawkins/Brown for their record breaking project – the CUBE at Banyan Wharf on Wenlock Road – that has taken the title for the tallest cross laminated timber residential building in Europe at an outstanding 10 storeys high.
