The Royal Institute of British Architects highlighted their support of the offsite industry in 2016, through their partnership with the Offsite Management School, in the publication of the overlay for the Plan of Work, which was created to encourage architects to engage with offsite manufactured solutions using Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DfMA) techniques.
The support of RIBA, was a clear indicator of the positive and progressive future of the construction industry by increasingly adopting offsite manufactured technology, with the RIBA describing this as βan essential driver for the industry to take the next evolutionary step towards 'assembly' rather than 'construction'.β
Along with the backing of RIBA, the increased media attention surrounding offsite manufacture is a clear indicator of these new offsite technologies gaining traction and becoming less of a niche within the construction industry.
