Precast and Masonry Expo 2023
The Precast & Masonry Expo 2023 is the networking event for the Precast and Masonry Sector. Hosted by UK Concrete, MPA Precast & MPA Masonry, taking place at the Leicester Tigers Mattioli Woods on Thursday 18th May 2023. The event will bring together the concrete industry with precast and masonry manufacturers, the supply chain, end-users and specifiers.
The exhibition provides a great networking opportunity, and the seminar programme provides a briefing on the latest topics. Find out more about the exhibitors and register for your free ticket at www.precastexpo.co.uk.
The seminar programme features:
Seminar 1 – Innovations
The standard for concrete, BS 8500, is about to be revised and this update will considerably increase the range of low carbon concrete available for all concrete applications. This session provides guidance on how to specify low carbon concrete, including the use of multi-components cements using limestone.
Seminar 2 – Measuring Embodied Carbon
This session will review the progress on benchmarking low carbon concrete and will discuss the potential benchmarking of precast and masonry products. In addition, One Click LCA will showcase their Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) tool, followed by Brett Landscaping talking through their EPD verification journey.
Seminar 3 – Social Value
This session, presented by Akerlof, focusses on raising awareness of what social value means in the construction industry and the opportunity for the precast concrete sector.
Seminar 4 – Achieving Future Homes Standard
The Future Homes Hub will present the recently published Sector Roadmap to Zero Carbon Homes - a long-term delivery plan for the sector, aligning with the Government's legally binding net zero and wider environmental targets. This session is followed by a discussion panel discussing the new Future Homes Standard and how to achieve it.
Seminar 5 – Buildings & Infrastructure
With high
levels of scrutiny being placed on building facades, the MPA commissioned the
Fire Protection Association to undertake a fire test to demonstrate the
performance, robustness and peace of mind which can be delivered by
non-combustible concrete cladding systems. This session will show why using
concrete to protect against fire is a responsible design decision, providing
long term resilience to the places we live and work in. This is followed
by a case study of a precast concrete modular bridge from Laing
O'Rourke.
In addition to a jam-packed industry specific seminar programme, this event also features a full expo with over 50 exhibitors from the precast concrete supply-chain showcasing their latest products and services, including Advanced formliners, B&B Attachments, CEMEX Admixtures, Mapei, Procter Johnson, SIKA and many more.
If you are interested in all things concrete, then this truly is an event not to be missed. For more information about the event or to register for your free ticket, visit www.precastexpo.co.uk.
