Bathroom manufacturer flushed with success

24th January, 2017

A Hull-headquartered specialist bathroom manufacturer owned by one of the region's most entrepreneurial families has posted a near £10m rise in sales and is "well placed" to continue its expansion plans.

Walker Modular was founded in 2006 and is part of the wider Walker Group.

Led by former rugby league professional Malcolm Walker, it manufactures bathroom pods from a 700,000 sq ft production facility.  Customers include hotels, hospitals, prisons, nursing homes and student accommodation schemes.

For the year to 31 March 2016, the company reported turnover of £45.1m compared to £35.9m the previous 12 months.
Pre-tax profit was also up from £5.91m to £9.76m.

Walker Modular said it had enjoyed a profitable year on the back of "increased growth".

"The company has established strong supply chains and invested in quality control to further improve operational efficiencies and customer satisfaction," it added.

"The directors are confident that the strategic business model in place will continue to provide substantial growth over the coming years. The company is also well placed to implement expansion into wider markets.

"The board believes that the company's strategy, together with its experienced management, will be a solid foundation for future successful business performance."
