Bam takes stake in Irish modular homes business

31st January, 2019

Bam's Irish operation has bought a minority stake in modular homes firm Modern Homes Ireland for an undisclosed sum.

Based in Ballyjamesduff, County Cavan, MHI can produce more than 500 steel-framed homes a year, with 80% of the units assembled in the firm's factory prior to delivery.

Employing around 120 staff MHI expects to increase its production capacity following Bam's investment.

With Ireland said to be in the grip of a housing crisis, Theo Cullinane, Bam Ireland's chief executive, said modular was "clearly the future".

The MHI deal was a "unique opportunity to further develop a business, not just in housing but in modular housing, which aligns closely with our drive towards digital construction", he added.
