As future economic growth in Manchester relies on regenerating key areas for its ever increasing urban residential population, areas such as Ancoats and New Islington to the East of the city have been selected for investment and development. Once at the heart of industrial Manchester these neighbourhoods are now being transformed into modern and exciting places to live.
Manchester Life sympathetically revitalise precious heritage sites and set them up for a brand new purpose, such as apartments for rent or sale.
RCM have been involved in this initiative from an early stage, when it supplied John Sisk, who was the main contractor for the first six development sites within phase one. Other contractors, such as Stanta and Horbury have also been supplied with RCM’s high-quality certified products as detailed below:
DAFA UV tape is a part of DAFA AirStop System and is perfect for taping vapour barriers, roof decking and wind barriers. It is a single-sided tape and made from acrylic. The tape is particularly suitable for outdoor use in the building envelope during difficult working and building conditions. It can withstand direct sunlight, periodic heavy rain, moisture and large temperature fluctuations without losing its adhesive properties. DAFA UV tape meets the stringent requirements in relation to permanent airtight seals for vapour barriers in accordance with EnEV (DIN 4108-7).
Y-Wall, is a high-quality flexible calcium silicate based fibre cement building board, perfect for use as a fire rated sheathing board. Offering excellent fire properties as well as high levels of dimensional stability, Y-wall is an exceptional board for use in multiple applications.
Cemboard is a rigid, medium density, high-performance cement bonded particle building board which offers great strength and stability with the workability of wood.
Vitrabond, a light-weight metal composite cladding panel, ideal for external facades, which is very low maintenance. It comes in an unlimited colour range.
RCM’s Aluminium Support Frame (FastFrame), the façade support system presents the fastest, simplest and most cost-effective façade support solution available on the market. FastFrame is made from high-quality components designed for any substrate and any panel thus simplifying the selection and installation of the brackets.
RCM also fabricated the L and T rail elements of the façade support frame.
The above RCM products were used as part of the wall make up and on the buildings of New Union Street in Ancoats, Blossoms in Ancoats and Silk Glass Extension on Red Hill Street.
This exciting and continuing project is enabling RCM to demonstrate its capabilities as a trusted and valued supplier to the industry.
