MPBA - Supporting the Healthcare Crisis

The approach to coping with the COVID-19 healthcare crisis has been vastly different across the globe. China used the might of 7,000 workers and 1,000 construction machines, operating 24 hours a day to build hospitals but the strategy here in the UK is very different. In addition to repurposing existing buildings, modern modular methods of construction and portable buildings are being used to increase capacity for testing and healthcare facilities.

Our association is offering support to Government Department, but I would also personally like to reach out to members of NHS Estate teams and all those operating in the healthcare sector who have an urgent need for more buildings.

Our members are rallying to support this unprecedented situation by extending workforces and adding additional shifts to get the buildings delivered in the shortest possible time. Both volumetric modular manufacturing companies and those involved in the hire of portable buildings are ramping up to meet demand for all sorts of healthcare buildings and units from kiosks for individuals to welfare amenities such as more toilets and hand washing facilities.

As patient-led demand grows due to the COVID-19 crisis, healthcare environments are continually looking to adapt and expand their facilities quickly and cost-effectively. The healthcare sector doesn’t have the time or resources to commission lengthy construction programmes. The team here at the MPBA, can help those in need by putting them in touch with their most local modular manufacturer or those who have portable buildings in stock and available for hire.

We are here to help.

Given the critical nature of this crisis, the necessity to quickly source modern and fully functional buildings is an imperative. We are eager to help in any way we can and by putting calls out to those in our membership network who can help, we can save valuable time and resources.
